Privacy Policy
WhatPlantAI helps users identify plants from photos and manage plant scan history. This policy explains what information the app may collect and how it is used.
Information We Collect
We may collect account information such as email address, display name, authentication provider, subscription status and app preferences. If you use guest mode, a temporary anonymous account may be created.
When you scan a plant or choose a photo, the image is uploaded so it can be processed and associated with your scan history. Scan results may include plant names, confidence scores, care information and safety notes.
AI and External Processing
Plant images are sent securely to an external plant identification provider, such as Plant.id or Pl@ntNet, for analysis. The provider returns likely plant matches and related data. Do not upload images you do not want processed by an external AI or identification service.
Subscriptions
Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat. We do not store raw payment card details. We may store subscription status, product identifiers and renewal metadata needed to unlock premium features.
How We Use Data
We use data to provide plant identification, scan history, saved plants, subscriptions, account support, safety disclaimers and app reliability improvements.
Image Handling
Images are stored privately and linked to your account so your scan history can work. You can delete your account in the app, which removes account-owned data where supported by the backend.
Safety Disclaimer
AI plant identification can be wrong. Edibility, toxicity and pet safety information is informational only. Do not eat, touch, treat pets with, or make safety decisions about plants based only on WhatPlantAI.
Your Choices
You can use guest mode, sign out, request password reset, manage subscriptions through Apple, and delete your account from inside the app profile/settings area.
